“Carmen Loves Ella!”
featuring
Carmen Bradford
with guest Karen Tennison
With performances on 4 Grammy Award-winning albums, sold out concerts the world over, and sixteen recordings, Carmen Bradford is considered to be one of the greatest jazz vocalists alive today. On Sunday, July 17, this celebrated vocalist joins Women in Jazz Association, Inc. as they pay tribute to “The First Lady of Song”, Ms. Ella Fitzgerald. For over sixty years, Ella set the standard for vocalists of all genres and has been influential to singers from Lena Horne, Frank Sinatra, and Mel Torme’ to Michael Buble’, Natalie Cole, and Harry Connick, Jr.
Sharing the stage with Carmen Bradford will be song stylist and Austinite Karen Tennison, as the opening act. Karen Abigail Tennison is a born-and-raised Austin, Texas jazz vocalist living in the heart of Texas enjoying the life of a musician. Karen, like Anita O’Day, considers herself a “song stylist,” meaning she uses her voice like an instrument, considering herself more of a jazz musician than a vocalist. With a voice as captivating as Karen’s, it’s no surprise that she plays music at some of Austin’s most premiere venues with some of the city’s finest jazz musicians.
Don’t miss this incredible evening as the legacy of Ella Fitzgerald is honored by Carmen Bradford, one of today’s greatest jazz singers.
