Ange K
Ange K moved to Austin from southeastern Alabama in 1999. She embarked on a career in tech and had been in the field for over a decade when she was presented with her first performance opportunities, what Ange calls a “natural gift later in life.” She became a full-time musician in 2014. Although she was not formally involved in music in her youth, Ange was inspired by her mother’s record collection: artists like Earth, Wind & Fire, The Rolling Stones, Wings, and everything Motown. Her family had an affinity for the harmonies and family feel of groups like the Jackson 5, which, Ange supposes, is how she first learned to sing harmonies. A long-time resident of Austin, Ange has performed in-studio or on stage with such local acts as Rosie Flores, David Messier, Mingo Fishtrap, and Soul Track Mind, and national acts including Kirk Franklin, Charlie Daniels, Boys II Men, and Pinetop Perkins. Ange is a worship leader with multiple church music ministries, leads her own band (Ange K Band) and has performed several hundred weddings and corporate events as an originating member of the Matchmaker Band. Ange’s favorite part of performing on any stage is the joy of connecting with the crowd, making them feel part of the show and leaving them with lasting memories.
